Hello John!
As the seasons shift, we welcome you to the September 2023 edition of the CC newsletter! This month, we're thrilled to bring you a captivating array of stories, updates, and initiatives from around the world that celebrate the power of open knowledge and shared creativity.
Here are some key highlights we're celebrating:
🎉 Understanding CC Licenses and Generative AI: Many wonder what role CC licenses, and CC as an organization, can and should play in the future of generative AI. In this blog post, we seek to address some common questions, while acknowledging that the answers may be complex or still unknown.
🤖 Key AI Panel in Brussels: Creative Commons proudly represented civil society at a pivotal AI panel discussion, chaired by MEP Dragos Tudorache at the European Internet Forum.
🔭 A Tale of Two Global Challenges: We are living through a climate crisis and a very real, effective action we can take is to make climate change research accessible. However, climate research is still far less open than COVID-19 research.
🌐 CC at Wikimania 2023: We were thrilled to partner with the Wikimedia Foundation to make Wikimania 2023 a reality. Members of the CC team participated in this year’s event last month. Read more about it!
🍎 How CC Will Advance Open Licensing Understanding Within 25 California Community Colleges: CC is partnering with the CCC Academic Senate’s OER Initiative again to host a Bootcamp for 25 Southern California CCC faculty. The expanded training will bring more CC Certified experts to the 116 CCCs, and also provide key CCC stakeholders the opportunity to connect with OER experts throughout the world.
