Milwaukee, the 4th mass shooting of 2020, and one year since H.R. 8: we need action now.

WE NEED BACKGROUND CHECKS NOW

Demand background checks now!

John–

A year ago today, I watched the U.S. House of Representatives pass a bipartisan bill that would make background checks on all gun sales the law of the land. This marked the first major piece of gun safety legislation to pass either chamber of Congress in over 20 years.

And then last night, I followed news reports out of Milwaukee of yet another mass shooting. Five people were shot and killed inside the Molson Coors brewery campus; five people who are now a part of the more than 100 people who are shot and killed in America every single day.

We need laws that prevent gun violence, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell still refuses to acknowledge that. In the year since the House passed H.R. 8, Senate Majority Leader McConnell has sat on his hands and done nothing while an estimated 38,000 people have died from gun violence.

That's why I'm asking you to take action by contacting your U.S. Senators.

For an entire year, we have pushed Sen. Mitch McConnell and his allies in the U.S. Senate to pass background checks on all gun sales. I know from being there alongside you that we have fought harder than ever to make common-sense gun safety legislation on a federal level a reality.

Send your message today and demand background checks on all gun sales.

Our hearts go out to the victims of yesterday's mass shooting and the victims of daily gun violence, and we resolve to honor their lives with action.

Thank you for being a part of this movement.
