Yesterday, a federal judge ruled against DACA.
Friend, once again, a court ruling is leaving hundreds of thousands of immigrant youth in limbo. This is a devastating time for our communities, and we stand shoulder to shoulder with every immigrant in this country who is feeling the weight of this ruling.
Again and again, we have warned Congress that this moment would come, and they have failed to act. Now, they have no choice. This ruling underscores the undeniable urgency for Congress to deliver permanent protections — our elected officials MUST pass a pathway to citizenship for immigrant youth.
We will do everything in our power to fight this, and we hope you will join us, friend, because we are stronger when we join together as a movement. Please help us urge Congress to do everything in their power to pass a pathway to citizenship now >>>
Our efforts to defend immigrant youth in this country will not stop with an unfavorable court ruling or politically motivated attacks. Instead, we’ll keep fighting, just like we did in 2001, after seeing too many immigrants placed in deportation proceedings.
Instead of giving up, we helped draft the DREAM Act, which later became a foundational piece of legislation in our fight for permanent protections. And in 2017, when Trump attempted to terminate DACA, instead of backing down, we fought back alongside our courageous plaintiffs all the way to the Supreme Court — and won.
In this difficult moment, we are embracing the strength and persistence of this movement, which we know can conquer the greatest of challenges.
Friend, thank you for everything you do to make this movement stronger. Together, we will win this fight.
In solidarity,
Kica Matos
President
National Immigration Law Center
