Why we are 350: Scientists overwhelmingly agree that 350ppm CO2 is the upper limit to sustain life as humans have lived it. For 800,000+ years atmospheric CO2 varied between roughly 180 to 280ppm ([link removed]) .

Dear President Biden,

Thank you for your courage and success in so many areas. I can only imagine the challenges you face and the delicacy you must employ.

I am chapter lead of 350 Conejo / San Fernando Valley. The world is counting on American leadership — yours — in getting off fossil fuels, in spite of all the opposing pressure. I know you see beyond the status quo. Let's get this done in time.

I now dare to compare you to Pope Francis, who has made brave historic decisions, because they are necessary, and because he can.

The next week will be decisive for climate. I hope you enjoy my little video!

Health and strength,
Alan Weiner, chapter lead

Now Take Action - Sign a petition to Biden
One Minute!
On September 20, nations from around the world will gather on U.S. soil to move the needle on climate change.

But get this: the United States wasn’t even invited (!!), thanks to its dismal record on keeping fossil fuels in the ground.

Will you call on President Biden to declare a climate emergency and take stronger climate action so that the U.S. can join the global movement?

Not going to NYC this Sunday?
How about joining a Flash Mob in Madison?
Sunday September 17, 10:30am meet up
Willy Street Fair ([link removed])

350 Wisconsin’s Stayin’ Alive flash mob will be at the Willy Street Fair on September 17th. Come join the parade, following the flash mob. Carry a banner, wear a critter hat, show up in your own fun-loving animal costume, and/or help move the Chariot of the Great Turning. Sign up here ([link removed]) to join the tail-end of the flash mob.

September 17 is also the March to End Fossil Fuels ([link removed]) in New York City. But if you can’t make it to NYC, bring your positive energy for climate change action to the Willy Street parade.

Sign up here ([link removed]) and join us at 10:30 am to line up for the 11:00 parade. We will be meeting in the parking lot behind 211 S. Patterson Street (the one with the two big “Dreamkeepers” bird sculptures).

We had a blast last year, as you can see from this short video ([link removed]) . Join us this year.

Don't forget to stop by the 350 Wisconsin booth at the Willy Street fair. The Art Collective will be using its signature brand of creativity and joy to attract people to environmental activism!

We all want fresh air to breathe, good jobs to sustain our families, and a planet where our lands and waters thrive. But the continued burning of fossil fuels threatens our future. At the same time, wealthy CEOs are raking in record profits. That's why community members nationwide are joining the March to End Fossil Fuels this weekend. We are calling on President Biden to stop fossil fuel expansion once and for all!

Climate Week NYC
September 17 - 24

**
Climate Week NYC is the largest annual climate event of its kind, bringing together some 400 events and activities across the City of New York – in person, hybrid and online. Each year, business leaders, political change makers, local decision takers and civil society representatives of all ages and backgrounds, from all over the world, gather to drive the transition, speed up progress, and champion change that is already happening.

Climate Week NYC is hosted by Climate Group ([link removed]) , an international non-profit whose purpose is to drive climate action, fast. Climate Group hosts the official program during the week that brings together the most senior international figures from business, government, civil and the climate sector.

This year Climate Week NYC will be held from September 17-24, 2023. The event takes place every year in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly and is run in coordination with the United Nations and the City of New York.
