** Standing up for your community is now easier than ever.

Political representation in Congress and funding for schools, health care, roads, housing and food. These are the basic resources that Michiganders stand to lose if everyone is not counted during the 2020 Census.

The Census is an essential piece of our democracy. It helps the government determine how much to spend on social service programs and the strength of our voices in Congress. Every year, families must do more with less as our communities receive cuts to vital resources. We can't stand to lose any more. In Michigan alone, we could lose $1,800 per person in federal funding if our state is undercounted.

We have the power to stop this by making sure everyone completes the Census. A full and accurate count starts with your household. Will you take our pledge to be counted in April? ([link removed])

This year, the stakes are higher, but participating in the Census is even easier. The survey ([link removed]) can now be completed from your smartphone or computer in as little as 10 minutes. We have the ability to shape the future of our communities in the palm of our hands. They're counting on us to do our part.

Is the Census safe?
------------------------------------------------------------

Yes! All survey responses that are collected online are kept safe from hackers and other cybersecurity threats. The Census Bureau prioritizes your rights to confidentiality, and won't let your information be used against you in any way. By law, data collected from the Census can only produce anonymized statistics, and can't become public for 72 years. Government agencies Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and law enforcement can't view your responses. In fact, not even the President can access your information. Additionally, each Census employee takes an oath to protect your responses for life, and violation of this rule can lead to a hefty fine and prison time.

We only have one chance every TEN years to make sure we have an accurate picture of our nation. Don't miss this opportunity to stand up for Arab American communities in 2020.
