BIG NEWS: We finally have a fully functional FCC, but we have a very short window of time to advance our agenda. To fuel our fight for the long haul, we’re looking for 30 new Connectors to start a monthly donation to Free Press. A generous donor will match your gift for 12 months — but only if you give by 9/30. Act now!

Friend,
It’s a busy and exciting time at Free Press. Just weeks after we kicked off our celebrations around the 20th (!!!) anniversary of Free Press, the Senate finally confirmed Anna Gomez to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
While we’re not saying that our anniversary inspired the Senate to finally deliver a fully functional FCC for the first time since President Biden took office, we are saying that our hard work (and patience) paid off. Now, the real work of ramping up the public pressure on the agency to advance our agenda begins — but we have a very short window to act.
By donating monthly as a Connector — along with the hundreds of others who chip in a little bit each month — you provide us with the steady income Free Press needs to budget for the next stage of this fight. We’re looking for 30 new Connectors by Sept. 30: We’re so glad you’re in this work with us — will you invest in what we’re building together by becoming a Free Press Connector with a monthly gift today? There’s never been a better time to make this commitment to our work — but make sure you take advantage of this matching monthly gift offer by Sept. 30. We’ll also send you an exclusive Connector sticker pack!

FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel has done good work at the agency in spite of the deadlock that kept the agency tied at two Democratic and two Republican commissioners — including launching the Affordable Connectivity Program, sinking a hedge-fund takeover of a major broadcaster and cleaning up the mess Trump FCC Chairman Ajit Pai left behind.
But it’s no secret that almost anything worth doing at the FCC takes a 3–2 vote — which is why the industries the FCC is supposed to regulate worked so hard to maintain this deadlock. Now that the Senate has confirmed Anna Gomez to serve as the agency’s fifth commissioner, the FCC has the votes it needs to take action on a range of crucial issues. And we know from experience that big broadcasting, phone and cable companies — and their armies of lobbyists — will do everything they can to slow things down.
We need all hands on deck: Become a Free Press Connector with a monthly gift that a generous donor will match for 12 MONTHS.
