John,
Today, Judge Hanen ruled the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program unlawful ([link removed]) .
Since 2012, DACA has allowed over 600,000 undocumented young people like me to support ourselves and build our lives here in the United States without fear of deportation. But it was always a temporary solution requiring renewal every two years.
While Judge Hanen’s decision will most likely be appealed, we continue to live in limbo as we await the outcome of yet another court decision. It’s time for a permanent fix—we need a pathway to citizenship now!

I was two years old when my family moved to New York in search of a better life. DACA allowed me to get my Master’s degree and develop a career and a home here in New York City. It also gave me the opportunity to begin making plans to pursue law school. But now my future is in jeopardy, again.
As DACA continues to be under threat in the hands of the courts, there are no assurances I will be allowed to continue to work and build a life for myself in the only home I’ve ever known. Even so, I’m one of the lucky ones.
While this terrible ruling has no impact on current DACA recipients’ protections or their ability to continue to renew their status, there are nearly one hundred thousand Dreamers whose DACA applications will not be processed because of Judge Hanen’s decision ([link removed].) . These are real people who will not be afforded even the chance to live with some stability and pursue their dreams.
I'm 25 years old now and have spent the vast majority of my life in America. I feel just as American as my friends and siblings who were born here in the United States. DACA gave me hope: if I worked hard and did everything right, I could gain the legal status and stability that would allow me to finally breathe more easily. Now that hope is dying.
My story is not unique—there are 35,000 New Yorkers ([link removed]) just like me living with the same desire for permanence. Please join us on Twitter to call on Congress and President Biden to pass a pathway to citizenship NOW!

It is time President Biden, Congress, and the courts recognize that for Dreamers like me, home is right here, in the United States.
In solidarity,
