When I ran for Senate in 2012, a lot of powerful people didn’t think I had a shot. But this incredible grassroots team fought alongside me -- even as others wrote us off. With your help, I became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Wisconsin and the first openly gay Senator in our nation’s history.

I ran to make a difference in my state and across the nation, and together we’ve made incredible progress. That’s what makes it all the more difficult to see Republicans threatening to undo the hard work and progress we’ve made.

Wisconsin is no stranger to close elections. Four of the last six presidential races in our state have been decided by less than a single point, and just last year, Republicans won Wisconsin’s Senate race by 1% -- so we can bet that 2024 will be just as close.

And there is so much at stake right now. Republican leaders are suggesting everything from Social Security cuts to a national abortion ban, and we can’t risk putting our fundamental rights and freedoms on a line this slim. We need all hands on deck to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2023, 2034, and beyond.
