Friend,
Lexi Rizzo had a sterling eight-year record as a Starbucks employee, even
being promoted to shift supervisor.
And when she began to organize her fellow employees to unionize, Starbucks
couldn’t wait to get rid of her. The corporation waited until she was a
few minutes late to work one day -- and then fired her.(1)
Starbucks has fired more than 200 workers for unionizing, but the baristas
haven’t let that stop them -- more than 350 stores have organized.(2)
September 14 is officially a Starbucks Workers United Day of Action, and
we can show we’re with the baristas by telling Starbucks to bargain with
the union.

Firing workers is one of the hundreds of labor violations the National
Labor Relations Board has found Starbucks guilty of committing.(3)
The corporation, which profited nearly $24 billion in the last year, has
closed stores that have begun the union process.(4) The corporation has
refused to let unionized stores use software to help workers collect tips
from credit card purchases. District managers have turned down transfer
requests from unionized employees. They’ve held mandatory anti-union
meetings.(5)
Workers deserve to have a voice in negotiating pay, benefits, and how they
are allocated. Starbucks employees are no exception.
As you grab your latte on September 14, let your local Starbucks employees
know that you support the union. And please add your name to our Starbucks
Workers United petition demanding that Starbucks come to the table and
stop union busting!
