Congressman Al Green Recognized in Houston Chronicle Article for Federal Funds to Enhance Safer School Routes

(Houston, TX) — On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Congressman Al Green was featured in an article written by Houston Chronicle staff writer Dug Begley titled “Rep. Green cheers $2M project to give South Park students safer school routes.” The article highlights the $1.6 million in federal funds allocated to the Gulfgate Redevelopment Authority. A respected not-for-profit acting on behalf of the City of Houston to improve infrastructure. The federal funds secured by Congressman Green will support the improvement of sidewalks, crosswalks, crossing signals, and beacon lights near educational institutions.

The story indicates, among other things, that in 2023 alone there were thirteen vehicular crashes involving pedestrians on Bellfort Street.
