Hello,

I was told at some point: The only time you move to New York City is when you’re young or dumb.

I certainly had both of those things really covered when a friend of mine talked me into moving from Colorado to “the Big City” after we graduated so that he could chase a girl.

[link removed] [[link removed]]Everyone seemed to want to hire someone who went to an Ivy League school – not the University of Colorado – so I ended up waiting tables for a while before I finally landed a job on the 100th floor of the World Trade Center.

By September 2001, I was working in Midtown, a few miles from the towers. But in the weeks and months that followed, I went to way too many funerals. And while living in NYC certainly made life interesting, I decided it was time to pause and do some reflecting.

It’s much harder to find good people than it is to find a good job. So I loaded up my beat-up old car and drove back to Colorado to see some friends – and get some hugs.

That’s how I ended up meeting a gal named Katy. Like me, she was a former ski racer and had a deep love of exploring the outdoors. The only word I could think of to describe her was “incredible.” And eventually, I worked up enough courage to ask if she wanted to make a go of it together.

[link removed] [[link removed]]We decided the Western Slope of Colorado was the perfect place for us to create a community for ourselves and our future family. And Katy is everything you could ask for in a wife, a mother, and a partner.

Katy somehow has found the time to do it all. She’s a successful businesswoman, serves on our local school board, was deeply involved in my race for Congress against Lauren Boebert last year… and even after all that, she still finds the energy to keep me in check when I need it.

[link removed] [[link removed]]I didn’t know what I was looking for when I headed back to Colorado in 2001. But I found it all – and more – in Katy and our two children.

Tonight, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, I am reminded just how lucky I am to have you in my life. I love you, sweetie.

[link removed] [[link removed]]This campaign is truly a family (ad)venture. My family was my bedrock and kept me grounded as Lauren Boebert and her Super PACs began slinging mud at me during the last campaign – just as I’m sure will happen once again this time around, given how close we came to defeating Boebert.

I am so thankful to have them – and you – by my side for the continuation of this journey.

With gratitude -
Adam
