A digest of Claremont's accomplishments, new publications, and events on the horizon!
September 13, 2023
Dear Friend,
The summer months, always a busy time at the Claremont Institute, were again joyous and productive. Our Publius, Lincoln, and Marshall Fellows left their programs energized to fight for America and emboldened to meet so many like-minded patriots.
The Claremont fellowship programs are truly unique. As past Lincoln Fellow Mollie Hemingway notes “I can mark my professional career in two parts: Before my Claremont Institute fellowship and after.” That about sums it up.
Our Center for the American Way of Life (CAWL) scholars have also been hard at work.
CAWL Executive Director Arthur Milikh released his edited volume “Up from Conservatism: Revitalizing the Right After a Generation of Decay” to great fanfare. The policy solutions proposed in the book have already found their way into the Republican debates. And the volume caught the attention of Anti-Woke Caucus Chairman Jim Banks, who is recommending it to all his colleagues.
Scott Yenor, our Senior Director of State Coalitions, released a report on the state of K-12 education in California, detailing the ways in which the left has built an unaccountable woke monopoly in the public school system.
Take a look at Yenor's op-ed covering the report in The Daily Telegraph, the leading conservative newspaper in the U.K. Read it HERE.
Scott also wrote an op-ed featured in the Wall Street Journal on Florida’s blueprint for public education reform and why it has been so successful. Read it HERE.
Washington Fellow Jesse Merriam added to our growing library of Provocations reports, with a deep dive on how the civil rights revolution unleashed an assault on the U.S. Constitution that remains unabated. Read the ProvocationHERE.
Our new Director of the American Military Project, Will Thibeau, is set to testify before the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel on September 20.
If you haven’t already, do enjoy the latest issue of the Claremont Review of Books—out now! Read it HERE.
The mission of the Claremont Institute is to restore the principles of the American Founding to their rightful, preeminent authority in our national life.
