Allow me to introduce myself, JOhn:
I’m a mother, a teacher, a state senator, and the Democratic nominee for the special election in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District. I’m running to fight for public education, to protect our fundamental freedoms, and to put families first — while my MAGA opponent has promised to cut Social Security and pass a national abortion ban.
This race is our first chance of the 2024 cycle to flip a House seat from red to blue. The general election just began here, and it’s going to be a sprint to the finish line. Voters go to polls on November 21 – only 69 days from now!
Will you help us start the general election strong by chipping in $10 right now – split between my campaign and Jennifer Wexton's? Your grassroots donations will help us amplify our ads, grow our field team, and connect with voters all across the district.

Since I announced my candidacy this summer, I’ve heard a few variations of this question:
“You don’t really expect to win as a Democrat in Utah, right?”
So let me be absolutely clear, JOhn: I am in this race to win, and I’ve got a track record of winning tough fights.
I won a Republican-leaning district on the Utah State Board of Education in 2016. I had never run for office before, but I was determined to make sure my state’s education policy incorporated the views of people who’ve spent years in the classroom.
I saw up close on the Board of Education how the legislature’s extremism and one-party rule held up progress and hurt working Utahns. So in 2018, I ran for State Senate to cut through the theatrics, end the gridlock, and actually solve the problems facing our families. Utah Republicans really wanted to hold this seat; they worked hard to try to undermine me, but our people-powered campaign won out and defeated a sitting incumbent.
I learned first-hand in these early campaigns just how important the voices of everyday people are, and just how powerful they can be. I won before on the strength of grassroots donations, and I’m aiming to do it again.
Pundits are ready to write off any Democrat in a federal race in Utah. But I can tell you, JOhn: folks here are sick and tired of what MAGA Republicans like my opponent have to offer.
They’re ready for a leader who will fight to protect individual healthcare decisions. A leader who will fight to protect our classrooms from government overreach. A leader who will fight to protect our environment and stand up to the corporate interests that are polluting our air and water. A leader who will stand firm on the side of compassion when politicians threaten to cut Social Security and Medicare.
Every day on the campaign trail, I’m making the case to Utahns in the 2nd District why I’m that leader. But I can’t do it alone.
So I’m asking: will you split a contribution between my campaign and Jennifer Wexton's today? Every bit of support matters as this race heats up!
Thank you,
Kathleen
