Dear Friend,
Yesterday I attended a Rosh Hashanah reception at Vice President
Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff’s residence in DC.
It was inspiring to hear the Second Gentleman talk about the
administration’s commitment to implement their plan to fight
antisemitism (which we at Bend the Arc proudly contributed to) and his
reminder that “being joyful and living openly as Jews is what we all
need to do.”
As Vice President Harris said yesterday, “it is important for us to
be clear-eyed about what is at stake and agree we can do something
about it. There is a venom coursing through our country, and
we are the antidote. It is us who in this
moment are prepared to rise and do what is important to bring us
together, and not allow forces to divide us.”
As the only Jewish social justice organization working solely on
domestic issues nationwide, it is clear to me that now more than ever,
the work we’re doing is vital. Across the country, Bend the
Arc is organizing Jewish communities, rising up alongside partners,
and fighting to make the future we dream of — one with the sweetness
of safety and liberation for all of us — a reality.
Every Rosh Hashanah, Bend the Arc launches a fundraiser to mark the
end of the Jewish calendar, the same way most organizations do at the
end of the Gregorian calendar. Will
you help us build a sweeter future as we enter 5784 by giving
today?
Wishing you a sweet new year, Jamie
