The Piping Plover proves the power of your support

Birds across the country are seeing their habitats impacted by increasing extreme weather events and human interference. In fact, two-thirds of North American bird species are at risk of extinction due to rising temperatures.

One such bird is the Piping Plover, who with 3 degrees of warming is at risk of losing 87 percent of its range. To save birds like the Piping Plover we need all of our dedicated bird lovers with us. Can we count on you to be one of the new annual donors we need before midnight? Thanks to a group of generous donors, your first annual gift will be doubled up to $5,000 before midnight. Your annual gift will renew automatically each year, providing uninterrupted resources our teams can depend on in their work year after year.

The Piping Plover’s situation is delicate, but work is being done all over its range to ensure these beautiful birds are around for generations to come. Through research, education, monitoring, and protecting their nests, we helped accomplish a record-breaking breeding season last year. And 2023 looks to be even stronger! A new survey of the Piping Plover’s nesting region shows that 80 breeding pairs produced as many as 135 chicks across the Great Lakes this season.

In July, we were able to release four Great Lakes Piping Plovers into Lower Green Bay for the very first time.

But, these birds still have a long way to go and they need all of us to band together for their protection. You give the Piping Plover—and all birds—their best chance at survival when you join our efforts. We still need a few more friends to start an annual recurring gift before midnight. With just hours to go can we count on your support?

Sincerely,
