Hi
Friend of Trevor,
Along with supporting free, secure, 24/7/365 suicide prevention and crisis intervention services, The Trevor Project’s community of donors helps LGBTQ students feel safe and welcomed in school.
Our workshops — which they help make possible — provide teachers and other caring adults with lesson plans, empathy and awareness activities, tools to help prevent LGBTQ youth suicide, and more.
All of us at Trevor are deeply grateful for their generosity.Â
Trevor's research shows that an LGBTQ young person’s risk of suicide decreases by 40% if they have just one affirming adult in their life. In direct and indirect ways, we all can be that caring adult.
That’s why I’m reaching out today — to share ways that you can show LGBTQ young people that you affirm and support them as their full, authentic selves. Signal your allyship by taking these actions when it’s safe for you to do so:
★ |
Introduce yourself with your name and pronouns
|
★ |
Go to a protest, participate in mutual aid, and speak out against bigotry
|
★ |
Amplify the voices of LGBTQ people and condemn acts of erasure
|
★ |
Fill your space with LGBTQ-affirming posters, music, books, and other materials
