Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-Calif.) audacity knows no bounds; he's abandoned his own pledge that an impeachment inquiry would only proceed if the House voted for it. Now, he's caving to the far-right elements of his party, throwing caution and integrity to the wind in his latest endorsement of impeaching President Joe Biden.

Even within the Republican Party, there's a lack of consensus on whether to proceed with this impeachment inquiry. Reps. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), both from districts that Biden won in 2020, have expressed their reservations. Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) stated that "there is not a strong enough connection" between any evidence on Hunter Biden and the President himself. Republicans know there is no legitimacy to the inquiry.

This baseless impeachment inquiry is nothing more than an attack to undermine President Biden and distract from Trump and MAGA GOP's many indictments as we head into an election year. We cannot stand idly by as our democracy is threatened by partisan witch hunts. Impeachment cannot become a tool for political vendettas.
