Those with lived experience share how their lives and those of their family members have been impacted by substance use and addiction.

Our TCS NYC Marathon Partners for Hope ([link removed] ) team members continue to inspire us by training to run one of the most iconic races while raising awareness about substance use. We thank them for sharing their stories with our community and we cheer them on as they work toward their goals.

Runner Spotlight: Kylie

Kylie Stevens is running the 2023 TCS NYC Marathon in honor of her father, NHL legend Kevin Stevens, who is now in recovery.

“The past 20 years have not been the easiest for my family and most of my life has been marked by my dad’s struggles with addiction. I witnessed first-hand how addiction can destroy someone’s life and I experienced how it can tear a family apart.”

Kylie's dad won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins and played in the NHL for 15 years. But after becoming addicted to opioids following a massive sports injury, his career was cut short. Kevin now spends his time speaking to youth about his recovery.

Kylie shares, "most of all, I am honored to run this race for my dad and to bring more awareness around addiction. My dad is an amazing person and I am so proud to say that he is celebrating 8 years of sobriety. He now spends much of his time speaking to younger people and helping educate them about addiction.”
