John, growing up, I spent my weekends at our local Borders bookstore, tearing through pages of the books that made me the person I am today.

Parents across Texas read bedtime stories to their kids every night before lights out. Even if it’s just a couple of pages, I know their hope is that what they hear – the new ideas, the far-off places, the morals – will have the same lifelong effect on them as it did on me.

But if Ted Cruz gets his way, the only books left for parents to read to them will be the ones that align with his racist, far-right prejudices.

Cruz has made it a cornerstone of his campaigns to ban books that don't align with his hateful rhetoric. Many of the books he goes after just happen to be written by people of color, indigenous people, or members of the LGBTQ+ community. If we let him get away with these outrageous book bans, we risk losing the diversity and inclusivity that make our nation great.

I'm determined to defeat Ted Cruz and put an end to this hateful crusade. But this race is already one of the most expensive in the country, and GOP mega donors are pouring MILLIONS into Ted's campaign. To win, I'll need a huge outpouring of grassroots support from people like you.

That's why I'm personally asking: Will you give $5 right now to power my fight to fire Ted Cruz? This is our chance to show Ted Cruz and his extremist allies that hate doesn't belong in our schools. →

I'm so grateful to have you on my team,
