Our only hope today lies in our ability to recapture the revolutionary spirit and go out into a sometimes hostile world declaring eternal hostility to poverty, racism, and militarism.

-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Comrades,

This is it. This is the moment we've been not waiting for, but working for.

For months our chapter has operated a phenomenal DSA for Bernie campaign. The campaign has given Bernie supporters opportunities to become organizers, and organizers opportunities to become committed and hopefully lifelong socialists.

As campaign participants we've broken out of our isolation to talk to our neighbors about our shared struggles and the solutions we can realize if we stand together in solidarity. We've transformed ourselves from political consumers to political actors, who intervene strategically to have a real impact on our society instead of helplessly witnessing its deterioration.

No matter what happens on Tuesday, none of those achievements can be taken away from us. That said, we’re here to win. So let’s get out there and kick some ass for Bernie Sanders.

If you haven't yet gotten involved in our DSA for Bernie campaign, the time is now. We have multiple Bernie canvasses every day, in neighborhoods all around the East Bay, from now until Tuesday, and our office will be staffed and wide open.

People over profit isn't just a slogan. It's a movement, and it's happening right now. Come in. Get organized. Choose a side. Choose the side of the working class. Fight the bosses, the bankers, the insurance executives, the polluters, the warmakers, and the jailers. Fight for yourself, and fight for someone you don’t know.

It's time for socialists to make history.

** TEAM BERNIE: CA PRIMARY RESULTS WATCH PARTY
------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, March 3 | 7 p.m.–midnight
7th West, 1255 7th St, Oakland ♿
March 3 is a big night. Fourteen states vote in this year’s Super Tuesday, making up more than a third of all awarded delegates in the primary.

California is a big state. We’ve got the most people, which means the most people power (and also the most delegates).

The 2020 election is a big deal. We vote between socialism and barbarism, between transformative change and a race to the bottom.

So let’s have a big party!

Join us as we watch the results of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia roll in. Whatever happens, we’re going to need each other to win the world we deserve. So let’s be together for this one big moment in the big beautiful struggle!

7th West is ADA accessible, has VERY tasty Filipino food, and is all ages until 9 p.m.

Accessibility Information: Venue is on ground floor and there is a ramp that leads into the patio. Venue has an ADA bathroom.

** General Meeting: Continuing Bernie’s Political Revolution
------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday, March 7 | 1–3:30 p.m.
Oakland Peace Center, 111 Fairmount Avenue, Oakland
After the California Primary, the Bernie movement will move on to the next states, but the struggle continues. So what comes next? How do we keep working to get Bernie elected? And how do we keep fighting for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, good union jobs for all, housing for all, and ending deportations and mass incarceration?

Millions of working people across the country are energized by Bernie’s platform for transformative and bottom-up change and his message of "Not me. Us." The Democratic Socialists of America will keep up the fight here in the East Bay and across the United States.

Join us at our March 7 meeting to discuss what comes next!

Tentative Agenda:
* Strategy recap of the East Bay DSA for Bernie campaign
* Panel discussion of international mass movements, electoral victories, and labor strikes
* Discussion about how we move forward as a movement
* Getting involved with East Bay DSA’s other campaigns

** RED STATE REVOLT READING GROUP
------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, March 9 | 7–9 p.m.
East Bay Community Space, 507 55th St, Oakland ♿️
The largest strike wave in the US in decades has been occurring for the last two years, and it is not over! Teachers and other public education workers have responded to austerity politics, poor working conditions, low pay, and the erosion of opportunity for their students with a newfound militancy. From West Virginia to Oakland and Los Angeles, this is a national phenomenon. What are its roots? Who are its leaders? What does it mean for the future of public education? For organized labor?

These are the topics explored by Eric Blanc’s Red State Revolt: The Teachers’ Strikes and Working Class Politics (Verso Press, 2019).

Come to the reading group launch on March 9 where we will:
* Hear Oakland teachers reflect on their experiences in the OEA strike of last spring
* See a presentation on the history of California education unionism from Fred Glass
* Organize ourselves into groups with a discussion leader for the next ten weeks

Who should join? Educators, labor activists, parents, Easy Bay DSA members, and anyone else interested in learning more about the power of working class solidarity. We will meet every other week for ten weeks (five sessions).

Red State Revolt is the second book chosen in a series of Labor Reading Groups sponsored by the East Bay DSA Labor Committee. Copies of the book will be available for a suggested donation at the March 9 event (NOTAFLOF).

To RSVP in advance, go here ([link removed]) . For more information, contact [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .

Accessibility: Entrance and bathroom are wheelchair-accessible.
