Hey, John,Today is exactly six months since we launched this campaign.

Six months ago, I took a deep breath and a plunge. When I started this campaign, I mentioned how nervous I was—I’ve never done anything quite this big in my entire life before, and I just wasn’t sure how Wesley Harris for State Treasurer would be received.

Six months ago, I set out to build a movement for every North Carolinian. My parents taught me that our government can be a force for good when it invests in our communities, and that’s the pathway to creating opportunity in the places that have been left behind. It’s also not the kind of message that the insiders and the usual political operatives tell you to run on.

You’re not supposed to talk about spending as a Democrat. But I think voters are smarter than that. I think voters understand that our country’s best days have always come from investing in our communities, everything from President Roosevelt’s New Deal to Jim Hunt’s education programs. So I took a leap of faith.

In the six months since March 13th, we’ve seen an overwhelming response, racking up 168 endorsements from current and former elected officials and community leaders and traveling to more than 50 campaign events in 31 counties, from the Appalachian mountains to the Atlantic ocean

And we’re just getting started. I’ve been overwhelmed by your support and the response to this campaign, and now more than ever, it’s clear that voters are ready for a Treasurer who understands that our people are our greatest asset.

But John, if we want to keep up our momentum, we’re going to have to dig deep. Getting off the ground wasn’t the hard part—keeping it up for the next year and a half will be. We can’t afford to fall behind, and I’m depending on your support to keep us afloat.

So if you want me to keep getting out into every county we can, if you want me to keep reaching voters where they are, if you want me to be able to take our message of opportunity and investment to the people who need to hear it the most, then I hope you’ll consider making a contribution to this campaign today.
