Good morning,

Here is the Texas Minute for Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Witness Applied for Job With Paxton After Alleging CrimesTestimony in the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton has revealed that one witness who accused Paxton of criminal activity later applied for a job in his office [[link removed]].

Gregg Cox—who formerly worked for the Travis County District Attorney’s Office—testified that, while in that position, he outlined a series of possible crimes that Paxton may have committed, including bribery, abuse of office, and conspiracy. Ultimately, none of those charges were brought against Paxton.

On cross-examination, Tony Buzbee—one of Paxton’s defense lawyers—asked Cox about his allegations. Cox said there was no way he would ever want to be associated or affiliated with the kind of criminal conduct that he was alleging.

That's when the bombshell dropped:

It was revealed that, after drafting the memo accusing Paxton of criminal activity, Cox went on to apply for a job in Paxton’s office using a letter of recommendation from the Democrat DA herself, Margaret Moore.

This moment is just one of many in which Paxton’s defense team has revealed weaknesses in the prosecution’s witnesses. Last week, one whistleblower admitted to having no evidence when reporting Paxton to the FBI. Another said he made claims to House investigators that he did not know were true or not.

Organizations from across the state are asking why the impeachment is a priority for lawmakers over a multitude of other issues facing Texans. Abbott for Failing to Secure the BorderDuring a speech at an event in Michigan, former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson blasted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for failing to properly utilize the National Guard to secure the southern border. Soli Rice has the details [[link removed]].

While National Guard troops have been used as part of Operation Lone Star, they have primarily helped Border Patrol process illegal aliens.

Carlson said anything aside from deploying the guard to stop the invasion is not a “meaningful” solution.

The conservative commentator told the crowd he has attempted to convince Abbott to deploy the National Guard. Carlson said he suggested the deployment to Abbott three times, including once in private at a cocktail party in Dallas a year ago.

He said Abbott told him it’s “more complicated” than just sending the National Guard to seal the border. Carlson challenged that, saying it’s “not that complicated to repel the person… trying to break into my house.”

NYC Mayor Calls Abbott a 'Madman' Over Busing Illegal Aliens Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is complaining about Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s illegal alien busing program, calling him a “madman.” Katy Marshall has the story. [[link removed]]

“It started with a madman down in Texas who decided he wanted to bus people up to New York City,” said Adams. According to Adams, New York City is struggling to handle the influx of illegal aliens.

“This issue will destroy New York City,” said Adams.

Abbott started busing illegal aliens to the country’s interior last year, costing taxpayers around $1,400 per rider. The scheme has delivered more than 21,000 illegal aliens to “sanctuary” cities such as D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Denver.

Dallas ISD Approves Woke Sex-Ed CurriculumDallas Independent School District has confirmed that they will be implementing a sex education curriculum from an organization that promotes cross-sex hormone usage to high schoolers.

Emily Medeiros reports [[link removed]] the district has confirmed to both the Dallas Express and Texas Scorecard that they adopted an after-school program called ‘Positive Prevention Plus.’

The organization that provides the curriculum promotes a “Pride Guide to STIs,” which instructs young teenagers on how to hide their breasts and other genitalia to look more like the opposite sex. Both ‘chest-binding’ and ‘tucking’ have been known to cause numerous health problems, including fractured ribs, damaged blood vessels, and urinary tract infections.

"The area of sex education is the responsibility of parents, they must take back the reins. I urge parents in all school districts to investigate what your children are being taught and demand that schools educate, not indoctrinate." –Brady Gray, Texas Family Project

Keller ISD Votes to Withhold ‘Robin Hood’ Payment

Another Texas school district voted to stop sending “Robin Hood” recapture payments to the state, saying “enough is enough.”

Erin Anderson reports [[link removed]] trustees in Keller Independent School District approved a resolution to withhold its next state-mandated recapture payment during a special board meeting on Monday.

Recapture is a school finance scheme used by the state to redistribute locally collected property tax money from property-wealthy districts to property-poor districts, earning it the nickname Robin Hood.

Trustees in Spring Branch ISD outside of Houston voted unanimously last month to stop sending recapture payments to the state.
