As one of our priority birds, the Piping Plover’s current situation illustrates just how important our work is. Threatened or endangered throughout its range, we’ve made great strides in bringing this species back from the brink through conservation efforts including captive rearing, site monitoring, education, and outreach. In fact, these efforts have played a huge part in the growth of less than 15 breeding pairs in 1980 to 72 in 2022 in the Great Lakes. |
