Two days. That’s how long we have to get statewide eviction protections across the finish line and on to Governor Newsom’s desk.
The Homelessness Prevention Act (SB 567) aimed at enforcing existing tenant protection law and preventing more California families from being thrown out into the streets is coming up for a vote on the full Assembly floor this Thursday. And the corporate landlord lobby has been busy trying to scare legislators into killing the bill. We can’t let them do that.

Thirty-nine percent of California’s unhoused population is experiencing homelessness for the FIRST time. If homelessness continues to increase in California at its current pace, by 2050 the homeless population will reach over 500,000 people. That’s more than there are total people in the cities of Oakland, Sacramento, or Fresno.
That’s why we need SB 567 to close eviction loopholes to stop this cycle of homelessness NOW and keep Californians in their homes!

La Ley de Prevención de La Falta de Vivienda (SB 567), cuyo objetivo es hacer cumplir la ley de protección de inquilinos existente y evitar que más familias de California sean expulsadas a las calles, se someterá a votación en el pleno de la Asamblea este jueves.
