“Profits over people” is ludicrous. And “change takes time” only works if you have time. There are millions of Americans out there – the working class and those living in poverty – who don’t have time for change to happen at its current glacial pace.
Not when bills need to be paid.
Not when mouths need to be fed.
Not when roofs need to be kept above their heads.
So many Americans are one emergency away from financial collapse. A broken refrigerator, HVAC, or car transmission might seem like a simple inconvenience to our elected officials (and of course, our Conservative Villains), but those are make it or break it events.
It’s no wonder that a majority of voters see no difference between Republicans and Democrats. Either way, we’re getting screwed.
That’s why PowerPAC was created. Our organization seeks social justice change by supporting progressive candidates and policies that will bring the change our communities need. Even if those candidates and policies are seen as underdogs or pipe dreams.
Like… affordable healthcare.
… higher wages.
… an effective social safety net.
… a Black woman in the U.S. Senate.
… and even more progressive voices in our legislatures.
Yes, we want to win. But we also understand the value and the power of those underdogs and pipe dreams.
It’s about time the rest of the Left sees it too.
