It’s another record-breaking year in the United States: there have been more mass shootings than days in 2023, as our nation’s gun violence epidemic continues to worsen.
States like California have taken concrete action to stop this violence and save lives through commonsense gun reform including red flag laws that remove firearms from those at risk of committing harm, concealed carry bans, and bans on firearms in certain public places like libraries, schools, airports, and places of worship.
Of course, the gun lobby and NRA have fought back by legally challenging some of these gun violence laws, and in some cases they’re winning: courts are blocking some of these state laws from going into effect, putting the gun industry’s profits before human lives and the safety of our children.
This summer, I joined 18 other attorneys general in supporting gun violence prevention laws in states like New Jersey, because our children deserve to grow up in a better — safer — world than this.
As your Attorney General, I’m committed to doing everything in my power to protect Californians and all families from the deadly epidemic of gun violence.
Thank you for joining me,
Rob
