*"District Health Department #10 Announces Changes to COVID-19 Vaccine"

District Health Department #10 (DHD#10) is announcing that they will no longer be distributing the previous version of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines and that they are transitioning to the updated COVID-19 vaccines, once available.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved and authorized an updated COVID-19 vaccine for both Pfizer and Moderna [ [link removed] ]. This change will not affect our upcoming COVID-19 and Flu clinic schedule; however, the COVID-19 vaccine will not be available until the updated version arrives.

"Having the most updated version of the COVID-19 vaccine available to our residents is important," said Dr. Jennifer Morse, Medical Director for DHD#10. "While we transition to the newest Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines, we will be discontinuing the older versions so our residents aren't missing out on the newest, most up-to-date vaccines."

?Getting approval and authorization for updated COVID-19 vaccines going to help us keep our COVID infections and help reduce the severity of symptoms for those that do get infected,? said DHD#10 Health Officer Kevin Hughes. ?It?s never too late to get vaccinated and we hope our residents are able to take advantage of our COVID and Flu vaccine clinics!? DHD#10 is hosting public COVID-19 and Flu clinics at the following locations:

The cost for the seasonal flu vaccine or the preservative-free flu vaccine without insurance is $40. High dose flu shots are available for $46. Please bring your insurance cards and your driver?s license with you.

Many health insurance plans cover the cost of flu vaccines. If not, DHD#10 may be able to help through Vaccines for Children (VFC) or other programs. DHD#10 can bill the following: Medicare*, Medicare Health Plans*, Medicaid, Medicaid Health Plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network**, Priority Health, McLaren Commercial, ASR, United Health Care, and TRICARE with an insurance card present at the time of appointment. It is important to be aware of your insurance benefit rules.

"*Medicare can only be billed for Flu, Pneumococcal, or PCV13 shots.
**Excludes Mercy Partnered Plans."

DHD#10 now supplies COVID-19 at-home tests; however, supplies are limited. COVID-19 test kits are limited at each DHD#10 office and are available on a first come, first served basis. Individuals are asked to take one kit per person, and up to four kits per household. Test kits are also available at most pharmacies. Be sure to call your pharmacy ahead of time, as demand remains high.
