The climate crisis is increasing the number and severity of extreme weather events around the world, like the cyclones in 2019 that dumped water in the deserts of Oman, creating the breeding conditions for these swarms.

The effects of this crisis are hitting those living in poverty first and worst, but you can help. The Oxfam America Action Fund is working right now to demand that our government stand up for a livable planet.

Here's what we're calling on our government to do to fight the climate crisis:

• Rejoin the Paris Agreement and commit to reducing US emissions, to slow the effects of the crisis for those living in poverty and make sure that we, as well as other countries, do our fair share.
• Scale up US foreign climate aid to help other countries, particularly those where poverty is deeply felt, meet their climate targets and step up the global effort, and also assist countries to adapt and build resiliency against the effects of the climate crisis.
• Decrease emissions from our food system and enable farmers to adopt low-emissions solutions through a climate action plan, protecting their right to own and access land and ensuring food security.
• Make sure women and indigenous groups have a role in making climate action plans so that fixing the climate crisis doesn't come at the expense of increasing inequality.
