Hi John,
When my opponent Lee Zeldin supported a resolution barring federal agencies from considering the effects of climate change in their analysis of new regulations, he turned his back on Long Island.
As a scientist, I take a slightly different approach -- as Chair of the Chemistry Department at Stony Brook, I fostered research to make renewable energy more reliable and affordable, because I know that if we fail to take vigorous, sustained action to fight against climate change now, then we’ll be too late.
Zeldin continuously aligns himself with the far-right of his party by denying facts and reality, but NY-01 is becoming more Democratic -- and with my unique background and deep roots in the district, I am ready to beat him.
When we flip this seat, I’ll be the first female Ph.D. scientist in Congress. I’ll bring an essential new voice and perspective to Washington.
We need someone who can speak firsthand about the work that’s ahead of us.
Together, we have built a very strong campaign, all without taking a single dime from corporate PACs. But we know Zeldin will be hard to beat.
The GOP will do anything they can to prop him up. So it’s going to take a powerful campaign to win. That’s why we’ve set aggressive fundraising goals to support our efforts. It’s why we’re investing so early in the field -- we already have a field team of four people on the ground.
We’re pushing hard now to get my name on the ballot, and with so much at stake, hitting our February fundraising goal is of utmost importance.
We have $7,790 left to raise before Saturday at midnight, and if you care about getting rid of a congressman who’s sticking his head in the sand while our sea levels are rising, then I’m asking you personally to support my campaign to beat this climate denier.
I appreciate your support.
Best,
Nancy
