This morning, Speaker (In Name Only) McCarthy caved to the most extreme fringe of his party and directed a formal impeachment inquiry of President Joseph Biden.

That means for the time being, at least, the biggest winner among House Republicans is Lauren Boebert, who has been manipulating concessions McCarthy made to be selected as Speaker in order to force his hand on impeachment.

Well, it’s official: the inmates have taken over the asylum and are now fully in charge.

Going forward, none other than the likes of Jim Jordan and two other frothing MAGA Republicans from Kentucky and Missouri will now be in charge of impeachment proceedings against President Biden—in the face of, it must be said, a complete lack of evidence or reasonable suspicion to support their claims of “corruption” and self-dealing. (Remember how Trump gave his daughter and son-in-law official roles within the White House, and then let them conduct “diplomacy” while overtly enriching their personal businesses and the Trump Organization? Psychological projection is a hell of a drug.)

We’re going to redouble our efforts to showcase Boebert’s fanaticism to the good people of CO-03, who will ultimately decide her fate. Their choice in this election will impact every single person across the country, as today’s development makes plain.
