Should Donald Trump be banned from the 2024 ballot?
Yes, and I joined CNN to explain why.

Let me break it down just like I did on CNN:
Some have responded to our lawsuit seeking to ban Trump from the 2024 ballot by saying that this is not an issue for the courts, but rather one that should be decided by voters.
The problem with that argument is that we already tried that. In 2020 it was up to voters whether to re-elect Donald Trump for a second term, and he lost.
He refused to accept the American people’s vote, and then went further by attempting to undermine our electoral process, culminating with the deadly January 6th insurrection.
There’s no reason to believe the result would be any different a second time around. And it’s just not a particularly satisfying line of reasoning to say we should leave it to democracy when we’re talking about someone who has literally attempted to overthrow that very democracy.
So, no, our Colorado lawsuit does not undermine our democracy. Our Colorado lawsuit protects it, as the Constitution demands. Protecting our democracy is precisely what this constitutional provision was intended to do.

When we say this is about protecting our democracy, we are not exaggerating. Since January 6th, Trump has expressed no remorse, and has instead offered to pay insurrectionists’ legal bills and grant them pardons.
We can’t give him another chance to throw away the democratic process.
