No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for the medication they need.
Did you see Kim’s message, john?

As a person with type 1 diabetes, doctor, and congresswoman, Kim has made lowering prescription drug prices a top priority. That’s why she helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes historic provisions allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices.

But now, major pharmaceutical companies are fighting back to block Medicare’s price negotiations. Kim’s ready to keep standing up to Big Pharma to lower drug prices. Are you with her?

Dr. Kim Schrier for Congress

Lowering prescription drug prices has always been one of my top priorities in Congress, john. Let me tell you why:

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was sixteen years old. As a patient and as a doctor, I’ve seen firsthand how the price of prescription drugs has skyrocketed over the past twenty years – from $40 a vial to upwards of $300.

That’s why last year, I was proud to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes historic provisions allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices. And just last week, the Biden Administration announced the first ten drugs selected for Medicare price negotiation – including medication treating diabetes!

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, over 9 million Americans (and 100,000 Washington seniors) will save money when Medicare negotiates lower drug prices.

But the bad news is that, no surprise, Big Pharma is still fighting back against our efforts to lower drug prices for seniors. Pharmaceutical companies like Merck and AstraZeneca are even suing to block Medicare’s price negotiations. Given blockbuster profits, escalating prices, and spending on advertising and lobbying that outpaces spending on research, this can only be explained by corporate greed. Cutting-edge medicine will only help people if they can afford to buy it.

No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and paying for the medication they need. john, if you’re with me in the fight to keep lowering prescription drug prices for all Americans, sign our petition today >>

Thank you,

Kim
