Hi Friends,

I hope everyone is doing well and had a safe Labor Day! I wanted to provide you with a few updates on what I've been working on for the 34th Congressional District of Texas.

But first, I wanted to make you aware of a key deadline for our veterans!

Don’t Miss the Saturday, September 30, 2023, PACT Act deadline!

If you were deployed to a combat zone, have not enrolled in VA health care, or left active duty between September 11, 2001, and October 1, 2013, you may be eligible to enroll in VA health care directly. This special enrollment period gives veterans who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other combat zones the opportunity to enroll without first applying for VA disability benefits.

To learn more, or to sign up for VA health care, go to VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-MYVA411.

Over the last few weeks, I have been traveling all over the district, learning about drainage and flooding mitigation projects and recognizing accomplishments of outstanding members of our community. I am committed to making sure your voice is heard and that you are represented in Washington, D.C.

As Congress comes back into session after a productive August recess, rest assured that I will continue to put the needs of South Texas first. Take a look at what we have been up to!

I recently announced $1,871,685 in federal funding that will enhance our region’s education, health care, and emergency  services.

I also re-introduced H.R. 5342, the Equal Treatment of Public Servants Act of 2023. This legislation would make sure that millions of public employees receive their full Social Security benefits and are able to keep up with the rising cost of living, health care, and prescription drugs. I will continue to expand Social Security to make sure that South Texans can retire with dignity.
