As the new school year begins, extremists are ramping up their toxic, politically driven attacks against public education. In contrast, we are working to help students and strengthen public schools, making real solutions for kids a national priority.

We are addressing learning loss, loneliness and literacy challenges through transformative strategies that can be sustained, integrated and scaled to help children recover and thrive.

On my back-to-school tour, I’ve seen incredible work from teachers and school staff across the country, including innovative reading programs, exciting hands-on learning, and the wraparound services families need and want. Our campaign, Real Solutions for Kids and Communities, lifts up the real stories of the great things happening in schools, particularly in public schools, which 90 percent of children attend.

Given the political noise, you would think otherwise. But the real story of public schools and educators needs to be told. That’s why we’re running this ad. Will you watch it and share it with your friends?

When local media highlight educators and our public schools, too often the extremist networks of right-wing media and social media culture warriors try to distort the facts and divide parents from teachers. We’re not going to let them do that. We stand proudly with parents and together demand that politicians put aside their destructive culture wars and focus on what kids really need.
