Inclusion and acceptance of LGBTQI2S people in sports is an ongoing struggle in Canada and around the world, one that we continue to see both wins and losses in. With the recent ruling regarding Caster Semenya, which has prevented her from competing at the World Championships, now more than ever, there is a need to support and elevate LGBTQI2S athletes.

Through partnerships, LGBTI2S inclusion training, and awareness and advocacy, we continue striving to create more inclusive spaces for athletes and to raise awareness around the work we have left to do ensure equality and equity in sports and uphold human rights. Pride Houses, Pride Celebrations and Pride Days have played a significant role in opening up the dialogue for inclusion in sport and building awareness around the discrimination faced by LGBTQI2S athletes.

Tomorrow, we are celebrating LGBTQI2S inclusion at the Rogers' Cup with our long-standing sports inclusion partner, You Can Play. Through the partnership with You Can Play, the Rogers' Cup and Tennis Canada will be hosting a Pride Celebration at the Aviva Centre to celebrate LGBTQI2S athletes and raise awareness on the importance of LGBTQI2S inclusion.

Get your tickets for the Rogers' Cup/Tennis Canada Pride Celebration using the promo code and show your support for LGBTQI2S athletes.

Sincerely,

Helen Kennedy
Executive Director, Egale Canada
