Salaam,
Our reception celebrating the historic number of Muslim American appointees in the Biden Administration was a huge success!
Representing various agencies and fields, senior appointees working at the White House, Department of Defense, Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce, Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Veterans Affairs fielded questions about their career paths and what it was like to serve as a Muslim in government.
Appointees stressed the importance of representation in policy decision-making and encouraged the audience to support the inclusion of under-represented communities, Muslims included, in public service. Appointees also praised the work that Emgage has been carrying out for decades to increase Muslim civic engagement, including its work to champion Muslims for public office as part of its Muslim Talent Project and its work with the American Muslim Coalition.
