** DEAR FRIENDS,
------------------------------------------------------------

I have very exciting news for all SHARK supporters! Finally, a strong, principled law enforcement official is stepping forward to bring relief to the nonhuman victims of rodeo in Will County, Illinois.

On Friday, September 8th, the State’s Attorney of Will County filed an Emergency Petition for Restraining Order against a La Herradura De Joliet, in Joliet, IL.

La Herradura De Joliet has to refrain from ALL ANIMAL ABUSE, including horse tripping (which we have witnessed at this location) and degloving.

This is a HUGE WIN that will vastly increase the pressure on neighboring counties to also do the right thing!

By comparison, we have been working in Boone County, Illinois for nearly two years with almost nothing to show for our efforts. Will County is making a stand, and will be on the right side of history. State's Attorney Glasgow's bold move will have significant ripple effects not only in Illinois, but literally across the country. Meanwhile, SHARK is still working hard to gather evidence against these cruel and illegal events! Not only are we NOT done with these animal abusers, we're just getting warmed up!

Be sure to call State’s Attorney James Glasgow’s office thanking him for his hard work on this matter!

This steer’s horn was ripped off during an event, and was left to suffer with no care.

It is important to note that these events are not specific to Illinois, they occur in many parts of the country. They occur by the hundreds in California. We would like to make this a nationwide campaign, but we lack the resources. Meanwhile, we do not want to abandon our efforts against American-style rodeos, which are also very cruel, although they just aren't as cruel as the Mexican-style events.

But we CANNOT do it without YOU. SHARK needs your donations, so that we can keep fighting for those without a voice! ([link removed])

Very soon, in November, the cockfighting season will begin again. We need to be ready to go anywhere in the country to shut down these horrific events. At the same time, live pigeon shoots will be starting up at the infamous Philadelphia Gun Club and other locations around Pennsylvania. SHARK is the only group that has not forgotten these innocent birds. We've shut down more pigeon shoots than all other organizations put together, but these slaughter parties aren't finished yet, so neither are we!

Steer with broken leg, abondanded and alone, without his herd, after an event last week.

We are still working hard on our evidence gathering campaign against these cruel and illegal events! We will never give up on these beautiful creatures.
