John,
It has been 22 years since the tragedy of September 11th – it will always remain a day of sorrow and reflection.
Today, I am thinking of the nearly 3,000 victims and their families and also remembering the heroism of the firefighters and first responders who risked their lives to save others.
In the face of unimaginable adversity, the unity and resilience of our nation shone through. We came together to support one another and rebuild. It serves as a reminder that in our darkest moments, we can find strength, hope, and courage.
Just this weekend, I was in Medical Lake, visiting those who are recovering from the Gray Fire. In the midst of that wildfire, the heroism and selflessness of our firefighters and first responders shone bright.
While there, I met with a firefighter whose own home was lost in the blaze while he fought to protect the homes of others. And if he had to do it again, he would – an enduring reminder that the heroism of 9/11 has not dimmed.
Take a moment today to reflect on the importance of unity, compassion, and the enduring spirit of America.
With deepest respect and remembrance,
– Hilary Franz
