LOIS FRANKEL’S UNETHICAL TRACK RECORD
Those elected to positions of power are entrusted to use their capacities to put the best interests of the people first, not their own. But unfortunately, that is not always the case. Earlier this year, Lois Frankel was scrutinized for stock dealings that pointed to conflict of interest and corruption. According to a disclosure report, she purchased stock in JP Morgan weeks before it took over First Republic Bank, a failed bank whose stock she had recently sold. And that is just one example of Frankel’s unethical track record in Congress.
1. Lois Frankel has been accused of unethical insider trading by selling her shares of First Republic Bank right before it collapsed.
2. Lois Frankel has bought and sold stocks in multiple energy companies while sitting on an Energy Appropriations subcommittee.
3. Lois Frankel was reported to have broken House Ethics Rules when she was caught doing favors for a political financial donor.
The American people should never have to question whether their leaders are using their power and inside information for their own financial benefit. There will never be a situation in which my integrity is compromised or my commitment to the American people is questioned. I will fight to restore ethics by supporting a ban on stock trading by members of Congress. I strongly believe that elected officials have a responsibility to maintain public trust through openness and transparency. Trustworthy, ethical leaders are paramount to strengthening our country and ensuring the well-being of the people.
