Hi John,
When I started Mothers Against Greg Abbott, I never envisioned what we could become. It was just me, so mad I couldn't not to do something, standing outside the Governor's mansion with my homemade sign.
I stood alone out there, not even sure anyone would see me.

...and then, you all did.
I don't think I'll ever forget the day when our Facebook group hit 50 members. It just seemed so surreal at the time, that 50 people would be willing to support our message. That people I didn't even know would come and offer to stand with me.
And today, our movement is over 100,000 strong (!!!).
Thanks to everyone here, Mothers Against Greg Abbott is now the largest parent-led grassroots organization here in Texas. And that feeling I had three years ago — about the power of our community and how we build our grassroots coalition, one person at a time — that feeling will forever be at the heart of our movement, no matter how big we get.
And just this weekend, y'all proved yet again how powerful this movement is.
A quick recap: Last Thursday, I asked Brenda, one of our grassroots mom volunteers, to send out a quick message about our newest postcard project: to say NO to school vouchers. (I've included her letter to all of us below, just in case you missed it!)
Y'all won't believe how many people emailed us after, offering to help out. Not just support, and contributions, but volunteer offers too.
Since Friday, we've had 50 new people sign up and offer to send out postcards with our volunteer team!!!

In fact, so many more people have stepped forward and offered to help that we had to order another 4,000 postcards over the weekend just to make sure all our volunteers had the resources they needed for our postcard project.

With all the new volunteers onboard, we're confident our volunteer teams will be sending at least 10,000 postcards to the Texas Lege about school vouchers.
We can't let up on this momentum. If a few folks today would be willing to sponsor some of our postcard volunteers, we think we can send out even more before the vote on school vouchers. ([link removed])

With shipping, postage, etc. we can send out 4 postcards for just $5. Would you will able to spare a few bucks right now to help us add even more postcards to our Postcard Project? ([link removed])
>>> And if you're based in Texas and would be willing to send a few postcards on behalf of Texas families, please join us here! ([link removed])
To everyone reading this today, thank you for making Mothers Against Greg Abbott this powerful.

Hi John,
I'm Brenda, one of the mom volunteers here at Mothers Against Greg Abbott. Nancy asked if I'd be willing to share a few thoughts I'd pulled together earlier this week in case there were other parents reading this who might feel the same way.
I've never done something like this before—emailing a group of strangers about my life—but, I'm always telling my kids we have to try new things at least once.
... So here it goes:
School is just starting and I've done enough — got the new backpacks and the new shoes, all those supplies the school requested.
I even went in and helped my son's teacher set up their room. And I went to the first PTO meeting (no one talked to me, zero potential mom-friends, do not recommend).
And now: now, Susan and Nancy want me to write postcards too. And not fun postcards. We're all supposed to write postcards for 24 members of the Texas Lege.
I thought about just saying "No."
Then reality kicked in.
We send all three of our kids to our local public school. My son's teacher was a lifesaver last year. The librarian helped teach my daughter how to read, and now she loves books and reading too.
Our family is counting on Texas public education for high school too.
I have to fight for Texas public schools. So yes, I'm writing those darn postcards and I roped my husband into doing it too.
If you listen to what some elected officials are saying here in Texas, they make school vouchers sound like such a great idea... At the very least, an ok idea.
That's not true.
(To say this in a less nice way: They lied.)
The reality is that school vouchers will gut public schools. Schools where my kids, and yours, attend so they can receive a quality, indoctrination-free education will face drastic and devastating budget cuts if Greg Abbott gets his way.
Our tax money should be spent where it was intended—public, NOT private, neighborhood schools!
This is a fight for us as parents (and allies), for our children, and for Texas public school teachers too.
We can win it, and fight off private school funding using public monies, but it's going to take all of us.
I hope you'll join us,
— Brenda M.
Proud Texas public school parent to Hailey, Michael, and LouLou

Our postcard project is supported entirely by folks like you, chipping in whatever they can spare. $5 funds 4 more postcards, so every dollar counts!
P.S. If you're a Texas parent like Brenda and would like to volunteer with Mothers Against Greg Abbott — you can sign up ([link removed]) to send out a few postcards too. All are welcome!
============================================================
Mothers For Democracy / Mothers Against Greg Abbott is the largest coalition dedicated to defeating the extremist MAGA movement in Texas. Since 2021, we've been helping lead the Democratic resistance in Texas, we've organized thousands of local voters and our public issue campaigns have reached millions of Texans in key battleground areas. Now, we're backed by thousands of Texas parents who are mobilizing in their own neighborhoods to ensure the Texas we hand over to the next generation is better than the one we've inherited.
We're sick and tired of being linked to a handful of extremist MAGA spokesmen — divisive politicians like Ken Paxton and Ted Cruz. So this election cycle, we're taking down Ted Cruz and dozens more of his Texas MAGA cronies. With you by our side, we'll deliver the kind of leadership everyone living in Texas can be proud of.
