Hi,
HUGE NEWS: The U.S. Senate on Thursday *finally* confirmed President
Biden’s pick to fill the tiebreaking seat on the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) that will determine the fate of net neutrality.
Now, with Anna Gomez confirmed, the FCC can finally undo the damage done
by Donald Trump’s FCC chair, Ajit Pai, and restore net neutrality. But
Comcast and its lobbyists blocked President Biden from filling the seat
for more than two years, and they will use every dirty trick in the book
to block or delay net neutrality.
We must turn up the heat starting right now to make sure the FCC delivers
on President Biden’s pledge to restore net neutrality.^1

in to help Demand Progress Action fight for net neutrality, and push for
other key reforms.

When Trump appointed former Verizon lawyer Ajit Pai as chair of the FCC,
Pai quickly repealed the net neutrality rules that prevented ISPs from
prioritizing content that benefits their bottom line and dumping the rest
of us on an internet slow lane.^2
A Biden-appointed FCC member should have been able to help reverse Pai’s
actions just as swiftly. But with nasty smear campaigns and mountains of
cash, the telecom giants and their allies tanked Biden’s first pick to
join the commission, leaving the FCC deadlocked 2-2.^3,4
We can’t let that happen again.
Demand Progress Action helped mobilize a broad coalition of progressive
organizations, including civil rights and environmental groups, to demand
that the Senate confirm Anna Gomez and reconfirm Geoffrey Starks.^5
Now, with a fully seated FCC and the restoration of net neutrality closer
than ever before, we need to continue to ramp up grassroots pressure.
