Dear friend,

First of all, a moment of remembrance for the lives lost in the horrific events of September 11, 2001.

Honoring their legacy means waging peace around the world, rectifying the colonial, imperial, and militaristic stance the United States has long held toward the rest of the world. I support the American military, but I do not support the use of might to undermine the sovereignty of other nations.

Protecting Americans on our home soil means fostering positive, mutually beneficial relationships abroad.

This weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to speak alongside a hero for environmental justice and human rights, Steven Donziger, at the Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains 2023 awards event.

Donziger is known for his 2011 legal victory against Chevron on behalf of Ecuadorian farmers and indigenous people, who suffered (and continue to suffer) from environmental and health problems due to Chevron’s oil fields in the area. It remains the largest environmental settlement to date.

A big thank you to Blue America PAC’s Howie Klein, who ceded the floor at the award ceremony to allow me to speak. That’s true progressive solidarity!

This was one of my first opportunities to speak in front of such high-profile progressive donors and politicians—on the right side of the photo below is the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House, Congressman Ted Lieu!

I’ll be honest with you for a moment—this campaign hasn’t received much high-dollar donor support. We’ve relied almost exclusively on small, grassroots donations, averaging less than $24 per donation this year.

We have the support of the working class, both in this district and across the country. But I know there are conscientious, wealthier people in the LA-area who can support this campaign—I met many of them at this event!

Any contribution to this campaign goes a long way. We’ve already begun canvassing and building a diverse, strong coalition of support across this district. We have endorsements from elected politicians and celebrities alike.

We would be honored for you to join the team:

I continue to push myself outside of my comfort zone, because I need to fight for my constituents and my neighbors who may not have the privilege or power to donate to this campaign.

We’re making headway in this humanitarian, intersectional campaign. And we can push this progressive agenda even further with your support.

Grateful to have you on my side,

Maebe Pudlo
