Take action to demand climate justice!
|
Dear Friend,
Over the coming week, thousands of people will gather in New York City during the United Nations Climate Ambition Summit and Climate Week, where they will mobilize to advance the demand for just climate action.
This is an important opportunity for us to advance the demand for equitably ending fossil fuels and advancing real, just, people-centered solutions to the climate crisis while holding Big Polluters accountable for their decades of deception. And we need you to be a part of making that happen.
Here are some events that will be taking place in New York City during the coming days:
1. The March to End Fossil Fuels. On September 17, we and thousands of people will take to the streets of New York to demand a just, fair, and forever end to fossil fuels. Together, we have the power to urge President Biden to keep his campaign promises on climate and environmental justice -- starting with phasing out fossil fuel projects and declaring a climate emergency.
2. Theatrical premiere of 'Powerlands'. Navajo Filmmaker Ivey-Camille Manybeads Tso will be hosting a theatrical premiere of her documentary ‘Powerlands’, which traces the effects of corporate abuse on Indigenous communities and lands across three continents. We'll be co-hosting this event at Firehouse Cinema in New York City, followed by a post-screening discussion with the director and a panel of Indigenous climate justice leaders.
|
And if you can’t make it to New York City, you’ll have the opportunity to mobilize for climate justice either at an event near you or online. Whether you’re in Nigeria, Japan, Australia, Bolivia, the Cayman Islands, or elsewhere in the world, you too can be a part of the global wave of mobilizations to #EndFossilFuels.
So will you join in on this week of climate action to demand climate justice? Find out more about events near you or take action online. A clean energy future where everyone can breathe clean air, drink safe water, and live a good life is possible!
Onward,
