Pro-abortion activists, politicians, and media allies are touting these statements online, but what does the data actually say? Here are the facts:
According to the CDC, in 2020, 0.9% of abortions were committed after 21 weeks—after a child is capable of surviving outside of the womb.
5.8% of abortions were committed between 14 and 20 weeks, which means that 5,582 abortions were committed after 21 weeks in 2020 alone.
That same year, 35,978 babies were aborted between 14 and 20 weeks.
Although 40,000 lives ended in the second and third trimesters might pale in comparison to the 620,000 babies killed in the first trimester, it is by no means “rare.”
I’m personally 30 weeks pregnant, and I feel my precious little one kicking and moving every day. It’s tragic and heartbreaking to know that these late-term abortion facilities are killing children the same size and age as my preborn daughter.
