People in the United States currently pay more for prescription drugs than in any other major economy. Big Pharma — and all the Republicans they write checks for — want to keep it that way.
Americans deserve better.
That’s why last year, Michael fought hard to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the out-of-pocket cost of insulin for seniors at $35 and gave Medicare the power to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies. All told, it will save our seniors billions of dollars.
It’s a great start — but Michael won’t stop fighting until we lower the cost of prescription drugs for everyone, Medicare or not.

One year ago, we took on Big Pharma and Republican obstruction to pass the Inflation Reduction Act.
One of the key provisions I fought for required Medicare to negotiate the cost of medication with pharmaceutical companies on behalf of America’s seniors. I was thrilled to see it become law.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services just announced the first ten drugs they have selected for price negotiations. These medications treat cancer, diabetes, heart failure, and more — and in 2022, they cost seniors $3.4 billion in out-of-pocket costs.
This is a big step forward and our progress won't stop here. Over the next four years, Medicare will be empowered to negotiate the cost of up to 60 medications, and another 20 every year after that.
We’re putting the interests of Americans over corporate greed. It won’t just save our seniors billions of dollars — it will save lives.
