Dear John,
As you know, I proudly served my country in the U.S. Army. When you’re in the armed forces, you know that you may be called on to give your life for your nation. You don’t expect to do it as a civilian. But that’s what happened on September 11th, 2001, to nearly 3000 Americans who were attacked simply because they chose to live in our great country. Not to mention the countless First Responders and volunteers who succumbed later due to the aftereffects.
We were stunned by those attacks. And then, something amazing happened: We came together as Americans. To mourn, to rebuild, to show the world that we were unbowed. In these days of division, it’s important to remember what we have in common.
I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on this today. I know I will. And I’ll pray for peace for all my fellow Americans.
Yours in Service,
Clint
