 We’ll get to the mushy stuff later, but we wanted to take a minute to share with you what we’ve loved working on recently. Here are some quick highlights of what amazing things our team has accomplished over the last year.

• We worked with members of Congress to display the trans flag outside their offices during the week of Transgender Day of Visibility, sparking conversation in the halls of Congress about trans needs.
• We released our national report, “Failing to Protect and Serve,” highlighting the failure police departments across the nation to adopt and modernize policies protecting the rights of transgender people.
• We launched Transform the White House and sat down with almost every major candidate for president to get their views on transgender issues.
• We worked with our friends at the Virginia Value Coalition to pass fully inclusive non-discrimination protections for the transgender community.
• We contributed to the battle against attacks on transgender youth in South Dakota, defeating a harmful bill that would have targeted young trans people and prevented them from getting the medical care they need.
• We continue the fight for nondiscrimination protections in Ohio right now.

That’s a lot to love!

Our hearts are full every day of the year, but especially now as our movement is gaining steam. There is so much work still to do, though, like fighting against bills on the floors across the country that will impact the transgender community, including those targeting trans athletes and young people. We are also facing unprecedented attacks on our community by the Trump administration with proposed laws that will allow businesses and organizations to refuse service to transgender people. But, with love in our hearts and passion in our bellies, we will face these challenges head-on.
