 Dear Neighbors,
Today, I will be taking time to remember and pray for the men and women who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.
God bless them and their families.
School Resource Officer Update
Last week, 44 Democrat lawmakers declared that they do not support?a fix to law that has left dozens of schools without school resources officers (SROs).
Their resistance makes clear that many Democrats in the Minnesota House and Senate do not want School Resource Officers in Minnesota schools. The good news is that there are 64 House Republicans that want to provide the fix school districts and law enforcement are looking for to return SROs to schools. Governor Walz should call a special session immediately and principled Democrats should stand up to the radical, anti-police wing of their party and join us in fixing this law.
The new law changes what SROs are allowed to do to de-escalate aggressive or violent situations, taking away tools they can use to keep students and teachers safe. In response, over 40 law enforcement agencies have pulled SROs from schools across Minnesota.
House and Senate Republicans?have urged Governor Walz to call a special session?to clarify the SRO language that is now in law. In response, 44 Democrat lawmakers stated they do not support a special session, preferring to leave the law alone.
Political games should not be played with student and teacher safety, and its time for Democrats to do the right thing and join Republicans in addressing law enforcement?s concerns with the new law and bringing SROs back to the schools that have lost them.
