Hi John,
22 years ago on this day, our country experienced one of its darkest moments. Over 3,000 Americans lost their lives on September 11, 2001. So many first responders rushed into harm's way to save lives, uncertain if they would make it out alive. Americans came together to protect the values that define us and make us the greatest country on earth.
The events of that day and the ensuing heroism had a profound impact on me as a senior in high school right here in Western PA. The feeling of unity, now so distant, was everywhere.
I felt a duty to serve. So I did. I entered the Naval Academy the following year and went on to deploy three times as an officer.
Today, we remember all those who we lost that harrowing day. I'm also reminded of all the servicemembers, including friends, who took the call to action to put on the uniform, ultimately giving so much to this country that we love. We must never forget the unimaginable toll of war.
I have dedicated my life to stepping up for our country, John, and I won't ever abandon my values and those who have served this country. That's why I ran for Congress in the first place. Moving forward is only possible when we all step up together.
Very respectfully,
Chris
