Today — on the solemn anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 — we recommit to never forgetting the pain and sorrow of that day, nor the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call of duty. 

We will always honor the memory of those who perished and the resilience of those who survived. And we will always be proud of the strength and solidarity shown by our fellow Americans in the aftermath of the attacks.

A few days ago, CNN aired a story about our Lowcountry neighbor Josephine Wright, a 93-year-old resident of Hilton Head Island and a member of the Gullah Geechee community. 

As you may know, Josephine is in a legal battle with the developers who are trying to take away the land that has been in her family since the Civil War.

Michael's own Gullah family taught him that his people are an indispensable part of life in the Lowcountry. We must do all we can to help ensure their history is never erased.

Team Moore stands with Josephine Wright. And as the next representative from SC-01, Michael will fight to protect heirs' property, prevent further land loss, and preserve Gullah Geechee culture.

Last week, a panel of three federal judges rejected Alabama's latest congressional map because lawmakers ignored the Supreme Court's order to draw a new majority-Black district.

It's disturbing that extreme politicians in Alabama continue to reject federal court rulings by denying equal representation to Black voters.

Before the Supreme Court hears the SC-01 racial gerrymandering case next month, officials in South Carolina should pledge to respect the justices' ultimate decision.

Michael believes in both strengthening democracy and preserving law and order across the Lowcountry.

There's so much work to do, and we're only just getting started.
